FAUX SILK TECHNIQUE

I want to apologize for the fact that some of the Links in EYE CANDY posts don’t always link up… sometimes what happens is while I am able to go find it…it won’t hold when I post it …since this seems to be a technical problem I am not sure what happens sometimes the link just isn’t active any longer… again I am sorry.

I want to share a technique that I saw on the STAMPING SCHOOL web site but since it is also STAMPIN UP site… I am fairly sure that both DAWN AND SCS both have the same technique.  They ( STAMPIN UP) have a paper they use for this technique called FILTER PAPER.  It does have the texture of a coffee filter but it seems to be lighter so that once its layered over the images they show thru better than they would thru a coffee filter..but I also found that you can use tissue paper in white or even with some pattern as you will see from my samples… again its THAT USE WHAT YOU HAVE.. so if all you have is a coffee filter then give that a try too…

TECHNIQUE: Basically you stamp your images on watercolor paper …use dark vibrant colors for best results or if you want a very soft result use light soft colors.  When they are dry cut your FILTER PAPER OR TISSUE PAPER slightly larger then your watercolor paper and then using either glue stick or light liquid glue spread it over the complete image and then press your FILTER PAPER OR TISSUE PAPER on top and smooth it out… when dry ( you can use a heat tool if you are impatient like me…lol) if you are using slightly watered down glue or the glue in the double ended ZIG GLUE…you can also spread a light amount on the top but especially with the tissue paper go easy or you will tear the tissue paper . While its wet you could sprinkle glue on it and tap it off… but then once its dry go ahead and make your card you can also layer other elements on top …. I am not much for ribbon but this would lend itself to ribbon for sure… its an elegant effect/technique…

STAMPING UP does sell this FILTER PAPER and it comes in packages of either white or a soft ecru… it also has several sheets that are 6 x12 and several that are round about 5 or 6 inches… all of it once glued down seems to be a little more transparent or see thru than the tissue paper …and I can’t remember exactly but think its about 5 or 6 dollars.  Dawn ships very quickly but if you have a demonstrator or sales rep that you use I am sure they all have it…

So this technique is quick and easy and I really like the texture and softness it gives to your card.  Give it a try and let me know what you think…or send images of your efforts…

Posting is going to get iffy again due to packing up to head to WA for the summer .
