FRENCHIE’S BOX IN A Z FOLD..

FRENCHIE’S BOX IN A Z FOLD …..WELL we had made this Z FOLD  with a couple of different twist to it but this is really cute also as it has sorta pop ups coming out of the box… Plus its Frenchie and you know how I just love her accent and also her laid back method of making art.  She so goes with the flow… she does a birthday one and then a christmas one….so this is a popcorn video..its 25 minutes long but its worth every minute.

Z BASE IS 4 ¼ X 11 THE BOX PART IS CUT 2 1/8  X 11..YOU SCORE BOTH OF THEM AT 2 ¾  AND 5 ½ .

This is her vision of the birthday box one…and it is taken form over head so that you can see how the layers go in inside the box.

Frenchie’s bday box z card

then here are the images of her xmas one or winter one.

I really like that she suggests that you put a piece of clear plastic in the back panel cause it will give it a bit more depth and give you something to attach your pieces too. As I said its a long video but she does a good job and has lots of good suggestions and I like that for the winter /snowman one she basically designs it as she goes… she made all her pieces first and then had them ready to assemble .

Well since the video is long …I am going to keep this short… but check out Frenchie and enjoy the video..You Tube has several different videos on this same card and each is just a bit different…

DAWN’S TRIFOLD POCKET

GREETINGS Y’ALL

This is such a cute and quick card… and it will work great for you to make your one insert…which could be an invite for a free dinner or for lunch out or even a photo or a gift card .

One of the best things about this is that it maximizes the use of the 12 x 12 designer paper…If you follow the measure meets you can get 3 cards out of one sheet of paper…each strip is cut only 4 ” wide by 12 ” long…and then you can use either side of the duplex paper or if you only have single sided paper then use the designed side..

DAWN’S TRIFOLD POCKET

another tri fold pocket

Dawn’s trifold pock

MEASUREMENTS :

cut at 4″ x 12″   TRI FOLD PAART OF CARD..score at 4″ and at 8″ see video for pocket fold

cut at 4 1/4″ x 4 ¼″ ACTUAL BASE TO WHICH THE FOLDED POCKET IS ATTACHED

cut (2) at 3 5/8″ x 23 5/8″ LAYERS

cut (2) at 3 1/2″ x 3 ½″  INSERT AND FRONT

This is such a simple fold and yet it makes an elegant card…now she goes thru telling you how to use your PUNCH BOARD to create an envelope to hold this card which is a SQUARE… HOWEVER, you can use a standard size envelope or a 5 x7 which is bigger but depending on how many elements you have on the front you might want to do as well. In addition , a square envelope costs extra but again if you have several layers on the front it will be thick enough that you would need extra postage anyway.

Watch for JoAnne’s or Michael’s to have pads of 12x 12 paper on sale. but don’t hesitate to use what you already have available…..or you will end up like me with so much paper that you can almost open your own paper store …and yet still not have what you are looking for…lol

kh front tri fold pocket

kh open to right showing pocket

in addition to the layers… if you have some of those WOBBLE SPRINGS..( I know that IMPRESS and AMAZON HAVE THEM FOR SALE..) IT would be fun not use one of those on the front with your image or die cut.. but that will definitely mean you need to use the extra postage on your envelope when you mail it.Alas my wobbles haven’t arrived yet so this will probably post without them

EYE CANDY

NOW….I am pretty sure I have told y’all that I don’t really sew…I can sew a few things and I have sewn things onto my cards but really making anything other than place mats, table runner or napkins….you need someone else…but one of my best friends has recently been bitten by the quilting bug and so I am seeing lots of lovely quilts on FB…but I had seen this woman’s art work once before and I think I posted some of it but I had to share this again.

When you first look at these you will think they are paintings, or colored pencils but they are all actually sewn with a large variety of cloths into the images you see.  I am so impressed with all of these….I can’t draw so I use rubber stamps but I can’t imagine how difficult it would be to make these images …. so enjoy this eye candy.

SOPHIE’S ART WORK I said that this was all quilting but actually she says its both quilting and embroidery…either way its absolutely stunning…so enjoy

FRENCHIE’S TUNNEL CARD

GREETINGS Y’ALL

Once I found FRENCHIE… I was so delighted with her “just do it ” attitude and her accent that I kept going back for more… FRENCHIE’S TUNNEL CARD….is not what I would call a Tunnel card but that’s what she calls it… after you watch the video you will see that she has images , embellishments etc hanging down from the center of opening in the inside of the card…I made one and it does work but frankly I don’t care so much for the hanging part…so my idea is to make to more 3D and attach the images to the inside , outside and the background of the opening… but either way its a fun card and will delight the recipient.

Frenchie’s tunnel card

This is the one she did with the balloons and she didn’t like it so the video is done with butterflies….the balloons don’t hang well due to the fact that they have string on the bottom of them if you used foam tape to adhere one to the inside of the cut out and one to the outside of the cut and then one on the base card itself all those cords would be just fine and it would look just a good I think… same with the butterflies or whatever you may choose to use on your card….

Basically you are going to use a standard 5 ½ x 8 ½ card for the base and if you want to stamp inside  your cut out then you probably do want to use a white or off white base card.  The the pop out part can be designer paper/card stock …not to think or it won’t pop out well and also will be difficult to adhere images/embellishments .

TIP: my first tip is that when you got to put the two pieces together the easiest way to do it is to put the one end as she shows but then IF YOU FOLD the pop out then you can apply the tape and then just fold the card shut and it will line up perfectly… at least that’s my way.

So watch the video and then give it your best shot…Here is my image I did use a sheet of decorator card stock for the inside pop out..and then stamps for the inside base

my version of Frenchie’s tunnel.

inside of my tunnel

You can’t see the head of the bird because it laying almost flat…but when its open then you can see his bird really well.

You may also see that my insert while cut the same size as the base card..I chose not to glue it to outside edges instead I moved it just about a 1/8 of an inch inside….it won’t lay out flat when opened all the way but who does that anyway… all the butterflies are mounted on pop up dots…

Ok try the card either way and AS ALWAYS THANKS FOR STOPPING BY …wire headed cyber toad aka kath

DAWN’S FUN FOLD FLAP

OH I just hate it when she makes a card that I really like… I love this stamp set and the dies that make the bundle but alas the buck stopped before I got here… lol  so I am going to improvise the coffee cup is not that hard a shape to create so I am going to give it a try …MY BFF MARN MAJESKI made me some paper well actually some cards a long time ago with the Starbucks logo on it so I am going to try to use some of that card stock to create my own coffee cup…

DAWN’S FUN FOLD FLAP  This one is the coffee cup version but there is another one using a slightly different idea and a Pig stamp but you could use any thing on it …I will link it down below,,, but here is the coffee cup one…

Dawn’s coffee cup fun flap

dawn’s fun flap open

now she has a bunch of layers on this card and that’s great if you have the paper and want to do it just follow her lead…however I think that it doesn’t need quite that many and so I would adhere the CUP ARM in between one of the other layers… and only the front FLAP on the left would open… once you flip the coffee cup….if this sounds confusing you need to watch the video FIRST…LOL she only added that back tan layer to cover the FLAP ARM but as I said you can just insert it in-between one of the other layers…

DAWN’S PIGGY FUN FLAP

This card is the exact same except instead of a coffee cup on the arm there is a double circle with a pig in the center….otherwise the same type of card… and this one again has that extra layer on the back but I think you can get by with just the two layers under the arm and insert in-between those layers in the case the white and the pink card base…

my coffee cup with faux starbucks paper

I had to hand cut all of the pieces the coffee cup, the lid and the cup holder also the images of the beans since my bean stamp is in FLORIDA…;(…

my frog fold flap front

I watercolored the frog and i was able to tuck the flap under the HUG ENCLOSED corner which is mounted on foam tape so it is raised……I tried to show that the frog is mounted on a wobble with a video but videos are too big it says for my blog…I will speak with my blog manager and see if we can fix that…maybe not…

this is the inside…and I cracked myself up with how clever I was …lmao

EYE CANDY…Recent trip to Oregon and fabulous view of Mt St Helen’s…this is something that doesn’t happen often as it must b clear sky …early in the day so the sun is in the right position and it must still have snow or it is mostly grey and just fades into the background so this is a winner….

FRENCHIE’S MULTI PANEL FOLD CARD…

GREETINGS YA’LL…

I am going back to FRENCHIE ….I loved this simple yet elegant card…and the fact that it will stand up…BUT..I HAVE FRIENDS who will tell you that I can never make a recipe just as its written I have to tweak it bit.. and so when I looked at this card rather than it standing you could add a bit of a ribbon on the front panel and then make it hang…so then it would run vertical rather than horizontal….. of course your papers and stamping would need to run that way as well…. just a thought…

I confess after listen to her I got hooked on that accent and had to discover what it was…turns out she is French canadian but she has lived in US for over 25 years… and currently is in TEXAS…I also got hooked on her card videos… I had just stumbled on the first one I told you about which was the peek a boo but then I found this one on the pop laurel and last this accordion one…so now I am subscribed to her site I am sure since they are both Stamping Up Reps that there will be over lap but again due to the fact that in this one she also makes a mistake on the video and then just goes with it ….no biggie and in the end I agree with her that it was what I like to call a serendipity moment and the accident looks better than that original…lol… so give this one a look see and and think you will like it too..

FRENCHIE’S MULTI PANEL ….If you know how to screen shot while you are watching you can do that to get the cuts and scores..if not think I got them on the screenshots I took of her videos…

Frenchie’s multi panel

Frenchie’s multi panel open

Here’s the measurements screen shot… both the cut of the base card and the scoring..

Ok she didn’t show what the sizes of the designer paper panels were …well she told us two of them and based on the sizes of the base panels they are as follows…

1 ¼ x 5 ¼,

2 ¼ x 5 ¼ and then last panel is

2 ¾ x 5 ¼.

Ok your gonna love to hear when she makes a mistake  in this video she goes UH OH…. it was just too funny and yet she wastes no time just tells you you can’t pull that tape off so go with the flow…. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT…

And with the end of the video the last shot is it folded and that’s my serendipity moment cause I do like it better than the first card she did ….

Ok that’s it for this post...AS ALWAYS THANKS FOR STOPPIN BY....wire headed cyber toad…aka …kath

DAWN’S Z FOLD and ZIG ZAG PANEL CARDS…

DE JA VUE , yes, you are not loosing it …we have done this type of card before but still I really like it and it stand by itself so that makes it a winner in my book…

Dawn’s Z fold

This is the birthday one that she did and the best part about her video is that she put the the measurements in for the white pieces ( you could make them any color or use some type of designer paper ) but cut it the measurements that she gives for the white so that it fits exactly in the space on the base card..ie no math involved… yippee…

MEASUREMENTS ARE….

BASE CARD IS CUT 5 X 12.. THEN MAKE A DOT AT 2 ½ IN AT ONE END AND CUT THE DIAGONAL DOWN TO THE POINT AT THE OTHER END THEN .SCORED AT 4 AND AT 8* this is also where she reminds you that you can have your Z pulling open from either way ..this means if you have duplex card stock that you are using you can decide which design you want to feature.

LAYER PIECE ( IN THIS CASE WHITE) IS CUT AT 4 ¾ X 12 THEN AGAIN MAKE A MARK AT  2 ¼ AND CUT FROM DIAGONAL DOWN TO POINT…THEN STARTING AT THE SMALL END CUT EACH AT 3 ¾ SO THAT YOU END UP WITH 3 PIECES…THESE FIT PERFECTLY INSIDE EACH FOLD OF THE BASE CARD…

HUGE HINT: If you use on either the base card or the layer piece a patterned piece of paper make sure you are cutting it right side up!!! or you will end up with pieces that are upside down..  if you cut wrong don’t throw it away try reversing the way your is folded and it may still work… just sayin…. I don’t tell y’all this cause I think you are dumb but because its the kind of thing I would do….lol…

Dawn’s Z wild ride

This is the same card different card stock , different stamps and a few extra layers of paper and of course embellishments.. and almost everything fits inside the base of the card just a wee bit of the banner is sticking out of the top…you want to make sure that it will fit in your standard envelope or you will need to use a 5×7 which is ok as long as you have 5×7..they still use just a forever stamp.

EYE CANDY….WINGS ON A LADYBUG…Not sure if you know much about Ladybugs but I am sure you do know how tiny they are so you won’t believe this video showing how larger their wings really are…. Also did you know that they hibernate during winter up at high elevations …well they do they group together in the large quantities under a rock.  In any case I think you will enjoy seeing this little video.

ZIG ZAG PANEL This is so close to the Z FOLD that I decided to put them in the same post…plus its really old she posted it back in May I think…sorry…I get behind sometimes…

check out the video and go for it…. it would also be a good one to put embellishment type flowers on… I just got an amazing amount of succulents that are dimensional in at Michaels and they were 75 cents a pack and I bought 10 packs…so I will try to whip one out and show you …. its quick and easy and there are lots of images you can use on this card…

UPDATED UPDATED RE POST OF DAWN’S PEEK A BOO SLIDER AND France’s Video

UPDATE,UPDATE.no I have not suddenly developed a stutter…I had to share this video on a similar card this one done by some FRANCE MARTIN…(if you hated this card the first two times then feel free to skip this blog…but in addition to Frenchie’s video there is also a 2008 VIDEO by DAWN of the same basic card with different layout…YES , OK I REALLY LIKE THIS IDEA…)..first I am not sure what her accent is but it tickled me to listen to her…and the best is that ⅔ of the way thru the video she acknowledged that she made a mistake when she was cutting but she goes right ahead and works with it….THAT GETS BIG POINTS FROM ME…so often folks in classes I have been in or taught have thrown a mistake away…..no need most of the time you can make a recovery and sometimes discover that you like that recovery better….

FRENCHIE’S VIDEO OF PEEK A BOO WHICH IS SQUARE…now because it is square you will pay more for postage….enjoy the video and at the end of the video by France you have a link to her web site and she says she has all the measurements and the pattern for her version of this card….and then if you can stand it watch the older version of the card by Dawn…DAWN’S EARLY PEEK A BOO.

France’s peek a boo square card

Dawn’s 2008 version of the Peek a boo card

If you think I have gone over board with this …then check out the many videos on YOU TUBE..of this same type of card and the various versions…. lmao

UPDATE ...ok back in march I made several of these and thought they were not that difficult well here it is JUNE and it took me 20 minutes , watching the video twice , making screen shots before I could put one together again…sooo I thought that posting it again with the updated screen shots might help others who in frustration tore up the one they tried and got up and took a break…come on admit it… anyway ..hope this extra photo’s help….

GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS…

I saw this card and of course ai had to go figure out how it worked….I think because it was   similar to the double peek a boo she didn’t give any of the measurements EXCEPT IN THE VIDEO….so I will list them below because while this looks a little complicated its not that difficult.  DAWN’S PEEK A BOO SLIDER

Dawn’s Peek a boo one opening SLIDER

SO the way this works is that when its closed you see one message and when you open it you will see a second message slide into the Opening…Her opening is made using a 2″  circle punch….the rest of the measurement are as follows…

BASE CARD …..4 ¼ x 8 ½  SCORED @ 4 ¼

FRONT OF CARD….4 ¼ X 5 ½ SAME COLOR AS THE BASE CARD

BACK OF CARD (WHITE) 4 ¼ 5 ¾ …SCORED along 5 ¾ inch at 5 ½

WHITE SLIDER PIECE CUT @ 3 x 4 ¼….SCORED ALONG 3 inch at 2 3/4

2 INCH CIRCLE PUNCH…you could use some other shape but it needs to be no bigger than the 2′ size or it won’t fit  the card…ie unless you are an engineer don’t re invent the wheel… lol

This is what the two pieces should look like after you adhere the white to your color card stock

so this is how you stick them together BUT  they get assembled with top one reversed ..

a picture of how and where you punch the 2″ max hole in the card…

This is the piece that goes on the top but she is punching it upside down from the back side….so turn it toward you and it becomes the pink front of the card with a hole in it and you use that hole layers on top of the folded base to see where you will punch the next two holes… yep there are 3 punched holes…

how the card should look just before final assembly..

ok looking down on the card she has the piece for the front adhered to inside top fold of the base card…you can see the small slider on the end of it…the her hand is almost touching the large white piece that becomes the back of the card…..sorry its blurry but I was having to stop it to take screen shot each time…

I hope that this helps ya’ll assemble them.. and this time I made several up but not stamped and and not completely assembled… and then paper clipped them together and put then in with my print out of these images…. I still love this card I must or I wouldn’t have worked so hard to make it easier for all of us…. hope you don’t feel cheated and if you threw up your hands and didn’t make this one…give it try now…

here are ll the photos on a shingle sheet if you want to print it.

None of the above is going to make any sense until you watch the video but I figured you could copy and past these measurements on a page and print them out so that you have them rather than having to watch the video each time you want to make this card.  HUGE HINT:   I would strongly suggest that you make up a dummy of this card so and put it in a sheet protector with the measurements so that you can refer to it make  more… don’t put it completely together but do adhere the white SLIDER  and the white BACK so that you can see how it does go together. Yeah I did that but I left it in FLORIDA….LMAO

As I said this looks harder than it really is … I made both of these in less than an hour..

kh how old peekaboo

You can’t tell form this photo but the dinosaur circle is on a wobble spring… LOVE IT..and nt washi tape is newsprint image… my how old stamp is on a block of wood so it is really hard to get it aligned….but I love that stamp…so I used it anyway…. I may end up removing it from the block of wood and using it on the clear blocks so that I can see it better…HOW DOES SHE DO THAT YOU ASK…I will post that info at the bottom of this blog. I HAVE NOW nuked the block stamp HOW OLD and removed the image so I put it on a clear block and put where I want it… see note below on how to remove stamp.

bird how old peekaboo kh

For this card…..I had this long stamp of the chick with the cake with all the candles and when I punched it out and I just kinda chopped off his legs but  He is ok…. then the cover was pice of card stock that was preprinted and left over from some valentine stuff.  I was able to center the HOW OLD a little better but still not perfect…however, I am not a perfectionist and it is legible and most people will get what it says right away..

You will notice that I did not put borders around my circle cuts…..ie the LAZY STAMPER HERE…I didn’t have the next size punch so I would have had to go and die cut them and I was just too lazy to do that…

Both of the my cards has the same message stamped inside on the slider part so it looks like this….

kh peek boo inside

You will also note that I didn’t use balloons to decorate the outside… I have the balloon punch which punches out two different size balloons but again I just liked using my how old stamp and the dinosaur…..I also have a cute big ugly looking bird that I plan to use with the message stamp saying DO I SMELL CAKE…that would go on the slider part.

So ALWAYS WATCH THE VIDEO…then I recommend you cut the pieces I noted above or even cut them first and then watch the video then assemble your dummy using paper /cardtock that you don’t really like so that you have it to refer to without going back to the video each time. My computer is on the other side of the room from my desk so its not convenient to go back and forth …..in fact i am not sure they make a des big enough for me to work with all the stuff I want at my finger tips…lol….I end up working about 10 sq inches ……I don’t recommend that as it is often how ink etc gets where it doesn’t belong or smeared… but it always seems to be what happens …. the muse is running I try to go with the flow….

REMOVING A STAMP FROM A WOOD BLOCK…..basically put your wood block in the microwave with the rubber facing up and nuke it for about 5-10 seconds… then it should just peal right off the wood block…it doesn’t seem to harm the rubber although over time it may dry it out more.  I would start with 5 seconds first as you are just loosening the glue …but if its a really large image you may want to do 10 seconds… you can always go back and do a few more seconds if necessary…. REMEMBER ITS SECONDS ….not minutes….so figure out your microwave first…with water or something so you know how to set it….I have a built in micro so its about 1100 watts…if you have a small one it may take a few more seconds due to your power being lower…

ADHERING THE REMOVED STAMP ….I use the zig two way glue pen applied to the back of the rubber/cushion THIS usually allows it to stick to the block.. however you can always put some double stick tape on the back of stamp and stick it to the clear block that way…

STORAGE…you can purchase the stamp cases empty from DAWN or any stamping up dealer ..I just stamp the image on a sheet of paper that will slip inside the front cover the plastic box and put them in there… I try to keep them in like kind of boxes… birthday together etc…

My friend JANIS…came across a garage sale, I think of a whole bunch of clear mount STAMPING UP stuff being sold and she bought it all… lol…. She is my number one BLOG FAN as she frequently makes up the card as soon as I post it and then tweeks it a little and sends me images of her take on the card…. FOR THAT I AM TRULY GRATEFUL…

I am also grateful for my wonderful HUSBAND OF 46 YEARS who makes all of this possible. He is very supportive and always reads my blog…Love him bunches.

Well that’s about all from here and as TOM BODETT would say AS ALWAYS tTHANKS FOR STOPPIN BY and “we’ll leave the LIGHT ON FOR YA”…wire headed cyber toad aka kath HOPIN THIS SHINED A LITTLE MORE LIGHT ON THE HOW TO…hugs kath

MINI EASTER BASKETS

DAWN’S EASTER/PICNIC BASKET This basket is very cute but also VERY LABOR INTENSIVE..lol … so you might guess that just maybe I had one that was WAY easier and also if you include the brads and pre/punch you could in fact mail it or leave it together and use one of prepaid mini flat rate boxes …it might be a wee big squished but still lots of fun for who ever you send it to…

Dawn’s easter/picnic basket.

Now here is the pattern for mine with the measurements… its slightly larger then hers but you could adjust the size easily.  I made a smaller one using the following sizes…

kath’s mini basket

cut 1….6×5

score on the 6″ size at 2 ” and 4″

then rotate and score on the 5″ side at 1 ½ ” and at 4 ½ “.. then fold and attach with brads on each side and don’t forget your handle which works best at ¾ ” x  7 ½ …use the brad to also hold the handle…

Ok that’s not much but its getting awful close to easter so wanted to get this out there..

HINT: if you use duplex paper both sides of the basket will be attractive…Or you could use white and stamp on it before you put it together….If you are sending/giving more than one to a household then you can reverse the basket so that you have two different ones…

HINT:2 If you need to mail this you can make a copy of this pattern and include it with the mailing so that the parent ( if you are sending to children ) or the adult can see how to put it together .. then you can use the cushion envelope to mail and put hand cancel on it and maybe add baggie of jelly beans or some other no melting type of candy depending on where you are mailing it…

You can also use stamps and die cuts to embellish it or bunny brads etc…

EYE CANDY….3D FLOWER POP OUT… I think might have posted this some time ago as My friend JANIS BLEVINS sent me the directions and I had to try it.. this one is a bit updated as they are drawing more on the papers so that they look even more like flowers…It doesn’t tell you a size , though it might if you went to her web site..but I used 3×3 squares and it worked just fine….somewhere …I found a stack of multi colored squares that I used for the flowers so they were all solid colors but multi colors.  You CAN NOT use post it notes the sticky is not in the right places….you will end up with a mess YOU DO NEED 7 pieces for 7 flowers and I am going to post a second link the makes the same flower but this one cut to a point rather than rounded…. so different looking flower.

DIY flower pop up/out

I would suggest you cut lots of 3 inch squares and then you can sit and fold them in front of the tv at night store them with the image in a sheet protector and you can when you get tired of folding start cutting and decorating…. watch video carefully so you can see where to cut or you will have just loose petals….how does she know this you ask…well guess I cut off the wrong end…lol…..in any case it makes a really spectacular card that will impress the hardest to impress… this is a bit time consuming but as I said I just made a stack of papers and folded and cut them and then began decorating all in front of tv…then tucked them away for future use….

Posted this AS MARTHA’S 3 D FLOWER CARD…in MAY OF 2015..IF you go to the blog and in the search box type in MARTHA’S 3 D FLOWER CARD…it will link you to that site and then you can go see her video… they are all the same…

my multi colored flowers but I needed to decorate the inside…lazy stamper..

Here is the second link…Pointed pop out card this is the same card just with pointed petals rather than rounded….

HINT:3… most import is how you paste them together so watch that part of the video and and then put a sample together and  I would use removable tape or the two way glue so that you can gently put the stack apart to reming your self how to assemble… or bookmark the you tube…ALSO DON’T RECOMMEND ASSEMBLY IN FRONT OF TV…too distracting and suddenly your bouquet looks like its been run over by freight train…lol

great card for mother’s day also…

OK THAT’S ALL FOR THIS WEEK...AS ALWAYS THANKS FOR STOPPIN BY…wire headed cyber toad…aka KATH

MAGNET MINI SCRAPBOOK/PURSE AND EYE CANDY

As I said in the last post I know I am behind…so thought I would just give you some photos of the cards I received for Christmas…

turkey is my aunties card
tree is my friends Nancy and Janice Hammock and the THANK YOU CARD was calligraphy from my Aussie friend HELEN

BIRD is my Auntie , photo calligraph is my friend Jo Forsyth and the wreath is my friend Carole Crose

japanese lantern cd is my friend Claire Russell and the Silent Night is my Cousin Patti

bag card is mine and inside it says no matter what has happened…bottom card is a purse type with a tiny magnet….that holds it closed….

MAGNETIC MINI SCRAPBOOK…This is the link I am going to use to show you this mini card above …now they are adding pages to put in inserts to make it a scrapbook but I just did mine flat and folded it over layering the magnet under the designer paper and if you stick them together  the magnets on the top flap and put a dab of glue on the back of the bottom one and fold it closed ( before you cover it with the designer paper) you have them perfectly lined up so they connect…. yippee…. so for just this card not with the inserts… you will need to cut your paper 3″ by 7 ½  scored at 3″ and at 6″  then layer a piece on the front or using  a punch or die cut the top end in a fancy cut …. Its just so cute and its perfect for those tiny stamps you have or the tiny images/embellishments… and After much searching I finally found the magnets…I ordered them in a pack of 12 ( it takes two for each card) from SCRAPBOOK.COM they were listed as the magnet source Neodymium Magnet adhesive Disk -3/8 inch -12piece   SKU..par -tms 7526

As Always thanks for stopping by. …wire headed cyber toad …aka Kath

DAWN’S SHADOW BOX BIRTHDAY

Dawn’s Shadow Box bday

Greetings, all you paper pushers…. above is the link to Dawn’s video and below is the photo of her card… It is made with a new die from STAMPIN UP… and its not cheap but it is cute…. and believe it or not No I didn’t buy it mostly cause I have several ballon dies as well as a balloon punch so I talked myself out of it for now anyway….

DAWN’S BALLOON SHADOW BOX

NOW while I think this is a lovely card and I do like the die…. I have to say that I found the various pieces needed to make the card TEDIOUS…and you know what a lazy stamper/cardmaker I am….so please look at her video and and with our without the die she uses you can make this shadow box her way using a piece of 8 ½ x 11 piece of paper.

However…. I know I had done one years ago and that I didn’t have to piece it so much… so I grabbed a piece of 12 x 12 and cut and scored it as follows to make the same shadow box WITHOUT all the pieces…

cut 5 ½ x 12

score along the 12 inch side as follows….4″  7 ½, 8, 11 ½ One advantage to this one is that you are not trying to score that ½ inch at the inner edge of your scor pal…

Then as you can see with the images below the card folds from the right hand edge over to the left and the left edge should meet up with the 4″ score line…

You can also see that for the opening in the shadow box I used a different die as long as it fits between the score lines and leaves at least ¼ in margins on each side it should work just fine…

Then the insert ( the yellow/orange piece in the middle panel) is cute 3 3/8’s by 5 ¼. then I gently folded the out flap up into the 7 ½ inch score line and marked on the yellow panel where the top bottom and each side of the open was so I could make sure my image was inside the opening… then I stamped it…

I made the panel on the left ( lite blue) kinda a square) about 3 inches by 4 inches..I wrote my message with the sakura BLACK GLAZE pen but you can stamp your message and I just happened to have the elephant butt stamp.. who knows why I bought it but I think I have always used it for my LATE CARDS and the words …just a little behind as a play on words since we all know Elephant Butts are not little…lol…

Well there you have it…. when its closed my large Elephant stamp (STAMPERS ANYONYMOUS V1-1494, pretty sure I got mine from IMPRESS CARDS AND STAMPS) the BUTT one came from a company that I don’t think is out there any longer…(GOOD STAMPS STAMP GOODS.) BUT DON’T FRET…..you can just use the but end of the large stamp and mask off your paper so it just gets the but…. it will work I promise…The the front of my card is as seen below

kh shadow elephant

then just to help you I found this buzzard birthday stamp at Hobby LOBBY and it cracked me up….

kh buzzard/blue bird

front of buzzard card

you can see that on this buzzard card I used an oval to cut the opening… so be creative and use what you have…oval, rectangle , fancy opening ….even a heart would work or a square…just Play….REMEMBER TO SCORE YOUR FOLDS WELL SO THAT IT STAND UP PROPERLY WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED …READY …SET….CUT/SCORE…(yeah I an an avid fan of the British Bake off TV series…)

NOW EYE CANDY There hasn’t been any for a while…so below are may VALENTINE CARDS that I received …. not many but fantastic quality ….

CYNTHIA THOMAS’S CARD

I have to say that first Cynthia’s card was the first one i received and it came on what for me was a bad day so I lifted my spirits immediately and its so involved that this photo doesn’t do it justice… its a box with many inserts…. and Cynthia were co-workers at a local stamp store in another life and we always enjoyed sharing ideas . She is still great at sending me via SNAIL MAIL…long may it live. terrific ideas and its great to keep in touch this way..

Lastly this is a store bought card but it came from my hubby along with the balloon stack and what can you say about a man that knows what you love to do and finds a card to express that…..PRICELESS AND WONDERFUL….

hubby’s hallmark card also a pop up box but opened slightly different to create more of a fan effect.
