Double panel gate fold card from SPLITCOAST STAMPERS

YOU can see written directions for this one as well as video if you go to SCS and click on tutorials and then search for DOUBLE PANEL GATE FOLD. Its a simple gate fold then panels are added to front of each gate and only glued one side each…I did like this and its relatively simple and you can use some of the scrap paper which may be piling up around you like snow…at least it is at my house.

This is another of my favorites.. I have used it so many times… I got the original pattern from Impress Rubber stamps which at the time had a store in the Bellvue square mall.  They still have a great store now down in Tukwilla WA.  Any way you can also see a video of it on YOu Tube with Dawn called the CORNER FOLD POP UP…. Its very similar to another corner fold that is way more complicated and so if you watch that one and want to have a cut out on the front you can do that just by cutting out the front and then putting your image up against that cut out on the inside and adhering it …. I think this is the easy one and I have used it many times and in fact first posted it here in 2017..but I am sharing the images and the pattern

one of the reasons I like this so much is because it will stand creating a corner with your images inside.. I have used this design a couple of times to display a mini calendar on one side and either stamp images or even photos which I felt the person I sent to would enjoy.  You can obtain the little calendars from IMPRESS RUBBER STAMPS

IN fact that is the only place I have ever been able to buy them and they do come in a couple of sizes and you can make your card smaller if you change the original paper from 8x 8 to 6×6 square… otherwise its the same and you will go from a 4″ open square to a 3″ open …

This one is also a favorite and very easy …its called a twisted diagonal fold. and it creates two pockets if you want to use them as pockets…they will hold a gift card if you are wanting to send a gift or just little messages.   The one below I only used small messages and pad of paper I found on sale that was full of black and white images… which I love and then added bits of red for a pop of eye candy. Again the link to video is from SCS…TWISTED FOLD

I am sure there is You tube video but it is basically 4 ¼ x 11 then score diagonally from top right to bottom left… fold along the score line and rub your bone folder along it to make it lie flat… then fold the two ends together so that you have now have a card that opens.  For the insert papers or decorator papers I simple cut a sheet of 4 x 10 ¾ then again the diagonal fold top right to bottom left and then fold in half and then go back and cut the triangles that you have created out and use them as you want … I only put them on the front flaps outside and inside because I think to do all of it , it gets way too busy… but your choice. Actually looking back at my photo I did use it on there front two different triangles but I still think its a bit busy..

Those are just  few of the folds that I like … as I have said many times I am all about quick and dirty….I don’t want to spend a lot of time on the cards I want to do more and new ones all the time so they have to be quick…lol

MY FAVORITE THINGS.

OH MY GOODNESS….I have some things to share and also a card link.. one of the first things I want to share is about the GEMINI JR.  I bought this about a year or so ago and liked it so much and if you don’t know its an electric version of the BIG SHOT… not made by same people but it is available at AMAZON…( LETS all vote Jeff Bezos to restart our economy…) it cuts dies of all types and it will also emboss using the regular embossing templates as well as the 3D templates which emboss deeper…( ie don’t use thin card stock with them or you will probably end up breaking the paper). Frankly I got a chance to try one of the Gemini machines at a stamp store and was very impressed..mostly due to fact that I have some arthritis and no way to predict where it will pop up next but I was tired of cranking my way thru die cuts and embossing … less embossing than die cuts which is what I want to tell you about… the Gemini works so well and I have the die cutting down pat… I know the layers and how to put it together and to turn the clear cutting plates so that they don’t warp so badly just flip them.  BUT AS I SAID I DON’T EMBOSS much that said I recently bought a 3 D template of cob webs for my all time favorite cards HALLOWEEN so I decided the other day to emboss it using the GEMINI JR…( smaller version the big one is way too big) so I looked up in my directions of layers and read it twice then put them together and turned on the machine and inserted the sandwich of layers …it started in and then I could tell it was stuck so I tried to push it a little to get it going having never used a 3D plate before I thought it would go but no… it wouldn’t and suddenly I panicked and tried to pull the sandwich back out… not working… so turned it off and called my hubby thinking I’d make him hold the machine and I’d pull and it would come out….well that didn’t work either so he turned it off AGAIN and did what I almost never do…got on line and read instructions…..with me kibitzing in the background that it wouldn’t work….but he said …they said to turn it on and hold down the reverse button ( which I had tried to no avail) for 10 seconds… i hadn’t done the 10 seconds…so we gave it a try and BINGO ..it promptly reversed the plates and pushed them back out to me… turns out that I had left in the frosted plate that you DO USE with the die cuts and that of course made the sandwich too thick…so I bravely relayed the sandwich without that frosted sheet and it worked perfectly…..so I just want you all to know that if you are like me and tired of cranking the BIG SHOT…then you might want to give the GEMINI JR a try there are other electric ones out there but I have liked this one very much and it does cut through rather heavy paper and even cuts through a couple  sheets of about 60 lb card stock.. and my shoulders don’t get tired and neither do my hands…I am just sharing this for your interest not because I get a commission for selling them… lol…and if you are new to all of this you might find that cost of BIG SHOT or ever the stamping up one is about the same as this electric one… and it will cut most size dies… anyway I love it.

Now next I want to share some pens my Epistolary friend in Oklahoma shared with me months ago so not sure if you will find them but she and I are great DOLLAR TREE shoppers… not Dollar General nor Dollar Family etc…only DOLLAR TREE actually has everything at $1.00….these pens are so cool… they actually have two tips coming out the end so you get dual letters or lines with them and in dual colors.  I had to go to 3 different DOLLAR TREE’S to find them but I do like them and they came in set as you see but also another set with two different colors… and at $1 of course I had to buy both sets… I only scanned this set so you will have to go hunting but you just might find them.

Now more info …I tried to scan this and it was too blurry so I took photo with my iPhone and tried to drag and drop it into the blog…but apparently with this newest update on IPHONE..they have made the photos no longer JPEG BUT NOW SOMETHING CALLED HEIC… it makes for a better and maybe takes up less space BUT IT is not possible to put it into blog… that blew me away…. in fact I am going to have a online discussion with apple soon and I plan to tell them that STEVE IS PISSED… some of the changes they have been making with these updates are just not necessary or at least don’t seem necessary … I am sure they have some reason but often it seems like they are just MESSIN WITH US… and this folks is from and all APPLE girl have been for long time and only phone I ever had was apple and don’t plan to change but really guys leave the do it three times to microsoft and give us back the EASY WAY…ok I am off my soap box for now… I also want to share with you a few photos from my mt Rainier day trip… WE ALL WORE our masks..

mt Rainier in all her glory against the total blue sky

This card below is from SPLITCOAST STAMPERS…and its on You tube as a TWISTED DIAGONAL FOLD CARD... but while you are there also check out the TWISTED GATE FOLD… another of my favorites…

I am still wearing my flip flops but I am currently not in the south…still the statement holds…

DBL PANEL GATE FOLD & EXPLOSION CARDS

Hello

DOUBLE GATE FOLD WITH FLAPS

Double panel gate fold card from SPLIT COAST STAMPERS

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfPkm12AU7E

I have include the link above so that you can both have written directions and also the link to their video .

I liked this card because it was simple and yet different in that it has multiple panel and is a great way to use up scraps… it would be easy to make up the base ahead of time and event cut some decorative pieces to go on the front and the flaps and then you would be able to assemble it quickly and have unique card for those last minute needs. Also since most of us are home a lot these days thought you could go ahead and make them up and then all you have to do is sign them, Of course this also requires that you will need a place to store them and the ablility to remember that place…lol and also you will have to be willing to use them… my biggest problem is that I see what I have made and I know I will forget it so I end up saving them for samples and never mailing…..ok nod your head if you do that too.  I could scan them  on my Computer, but then I would forget them there too. Still as my hubby would say it keeps us out of the bars ( which currently are not open in lots of places )

DAWN’S LARGE EXPLOSION CARD

I gave the link so you could see how to fold this card its really quite simple but I always do better with a video.  I made this small one using the same folding techniques but on a 4×8 piece of card stock .. Score each end at 2 and the fold the flaps down as shown in the video…I did not put this one inside a base card but merely left it as is and mailed it.

explosion folded closed this is the 4x 8 size

small explosion card with out a base just the explosion

same basic folds except that the inside is using a lighter weight (text) paper.

inside of card

Again this is the 4 x 8 size and its the one I use most often  I did cut the base card slightly larger as I never seem to get my papers the exact same size so for me its easier to make the base slightly larger and then insert the explosion so that if fits evenly.  It must be the paper trimmer that doesn’t cut them the same as I am sure its not me.

my crocosmia looks like mini orchids and grows well in PNW

my Black Calla lily which this year is all due to my neighbor/friend Shannon’s excellent care,

HUMOR

My better half finds these jokes on the web and shares them with me and this one is so true because we have the ice thing in the door and its forever shooting ice out on the floor which because the floor is white and the ice is clear no one finds till we step in the water with our bare feet…at which point we have no idea who melted it.  enjoy

TRIANGLES AND MORE TRIANGLES

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY…I don’t know about yall but this was a very weird 4th… there were lots of personal fireworks that we could see from our lanai across the river and in fact they all appeared to have spent way more on them than usual…and lots more of them too. I can only assume that this was due to no places nearby that were shooting public fireworks Still on the positive side ( I do keep looking for positives) it was quieter than before more color and less of the just loud noises… I always wonder who spends money to just get a loud noise…still hope you are all staying well , wearing your masks and looking on the bright side. Below are some cards for you to play with in your “stay” time.

TRIANGLE TRI FOLD CARD

This is an interesting triangle card and It can be madden different sizes…the one on the right is using the 12” paper and that is the link I gave you which is also a split coast stampers video . I find that it works best with card stock that is not too heavy…and in the case of the flamingos it was not a duplex paper…which I am sure you know is hard to find. the SEAHAWK green is light weight duplex paper …  and because of the design on both the flamingo paper inside and outside it means that it will only be right side up one way but inside its running vertical because the paper has an up and down pattern… if you want to use pattern paper you would be better off to find an over all pattern…not and up and down.  check it out its pretty fun and when you cut your 12” paper you will get two or even 3 pieces to make the cards…

this is what it looks like folded

this is half unfolded

Ok if you are till confused checkout the video link above  or the one below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdPjj_UjwBE

this one is a UK version and its a bit long but basically the same as the above cards but with a slight twist or rather an extension …its using two cards folded together which makes it slightly longer but it will still fit in like a 5×7 envy…and its a little different..

These are two of my favorite pens… the top one is pretty knew and from John Neal Bookseller  and its called the Brody pen.…which is an update on the ruling pen it has a wide edge as we’ll as a medium edge and the of course you put it up on the tip to a fine line for moonlike writing or to create a thick and thin type letter..

the bottom one is an antique I think I found it in and antique store and its an OLD RULING PEN… the screw on the side opens and closes the tip to allow for ink flow with heavy inks and watery ink.  It’s defiantly a moonlike writing pen so I use it with my AKIM…and other monolines…

BOOKS

I have never listed books before but thought that some of you are readers and might like some suggestions… All of the ones listed are available in Kindle format as that is my go to digital reader and most are also available in audible format..( I am an AMAZON AND APPLE girl. ) but I’m sure they are also available in paperback and on other formats.

ONLY WOMAN IN THE ROOM..ABOUT HEDY LAMAR she was way more than just an actress

THE HOTEL ON THE CORNER OF BITTER AND SWEET….A Favorite of mine

JOYLAND..this is a STEPHAN KING…BUT NOT SCARY…and I highly recommend you do it in audible if you have an account. I have listened to it a least 3 times and still love it.

WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING

IF THE CREEK DON’T RISE again the audible for this one is terrific even the author loved it.

DOCUMENTARIES..

I LOVE KEN BURNS and I love the NATIONAL PARKS AMERICA’S BEST IDEA…its a 4 part but it will make you want to SEE THE USA…he does a terrific job and even if you have been to all the parks you will learn things you didn’t know.

GREAT BARRIER REEF.…with DAVID ATTENBOURGH… I love to just listen to him I think I could watch him telling about mud hardening… but there are some old video clips of his first visit there and his excitement is just so contagious .

DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE….

Or KATH’S ADVENTURES…some times it feels like I have fallen down the rabbit hole…a) I am getting bigger…lol b)pretty sure my queen of hearts is actually a king of hearts and I know he is ready to cut off my head…..and I don’t seem to be able to wake up from this adventure and I certainly don’t think I want any more of it…

THE ADVENTURE ( if you don’t want sad story skip down to CARDS)

On April 25th my MOM , who has Alzheimer’s and is subject to UTI’s… and had a UTI was sent to the local hospital and there tested postitive for the virus…I am sparing you some of the details but for the next 35-40 days she  spent in the hospital and on approximately May the 28th she tested negative twice as required and was released to the Memory care facility that she had been in for the last 3 yrs… she is weak and needs physical therapy to walk on her own again (which before hospital stay she did quite well in fact was very healthy physically on Alzheimers med and assorted vitamins and something to help prevent UTI) so she is back and hopefully getting better but I can’t see her and in fact haven’t seen her since sometime in FEB…when they shut the memory care facility to help protect the patients…Its a small facility and I know she is getting best care they can give but still its hard not being able to see her or spend any time with her and she doesn’t get FaceTime at all and try to reach into the screen and touch me…..so we are still here in hopes that the place will reopen to visitors soon and we can see her before we head back to WA…so enough of my adventure it could have been worse she is 94 and other than the UTI had no symptoms…not on regulator at all …I know there are way worse stories out there but I felt the need to share …I did however give you a chance to skip this…

CARDS

FLOATING GATE FOLD…YouTube has a couple videos on how to make this and this one is made off the Video by Dawn.. but I had trouble with the Pop ups sticking to the paper and so I thought I try it a different way…you know me I am a lazy stamper /cardmaker and if there is an easier way I am going to give it try.  I did make it and turns out it is not really easier…so suggest you try either the link to Dawn’s or one of the others that are listed on YouTube.

CALLIGRAPHY

Now for my pen pals..lol pun intended… AMITY PARKS is giving another couple of classes and these are on her CHUNKY CAPS… so here is the link to her new class sign up website also with samples  .http://www.amityparkslettering.com

I think there other classes listed also including a second one on the BISTER INKS.

So you might want to check it out as the classes are in July but not sure if there is a limit on them or not.

Here are some of the pens that I just love… the top one is BRODY PEN from JOHN NEAL BOOKSELLER. Its basically an updated ruling pen…and it has two different angles for making thick letters as then of course the tip allows you to write a moonlike…I had it but hadn’t used until I took JULIE WILDMAN’S AKIM VARIATIONS CLASS and she is also doing more classes here is the link to her web      https://www.wildmandesigns.com

after her class I really started playing with it… it had been virgin so I just looked at it but didn’t try dipping it into ink and even after watching Julie… I only dipped into walnut ink… then I got brave and tried it with sumi… I did clean it well after.

HUMOR

I am not sure if you will be able to click on these links and then see them or not but a calligraphy pal of mine SHARON CLYMER shared them with me recently and they both make me laugh…

This snake one could be here in Fl since we are over run with pythons however because they are an invasive species they are doing their best to eliminate them and so they would most likely have killed it before tossing it… still its pretty funny…its title is “WHEN YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON..

The one below is titled WHERE’S MY PURSE and it is funny but obviously a set up and after looking up the link On YouTube saw that it was at least 2 yrs old…STILL  being down this RABBIT HOLE…I will take all the laughs I can find… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo1HhX25tRQ

this also cracked me up… now below are some older photos of Mt Rainier and a visit we made last year.

The critter ( other than my hubby and I ) is a Marmot…they cute but not vary sociable..they can do the distancing quite well and that’s probably a good thing as depending on if it early summer they can be rather cranky and they have nasty front teeth …think Badger.. and mostly they want food and women…marmot women… I can’t tell you what flowers they are as my pic is pretty blurry but they are also from the Rainier National Park… this year sadly I had several reservations on the most important one was for around the 25th of July but sadly they have canceled all reservations at PARADISE INN due to this virus so while we could stay outside the park or down at the LONGMIRE area ..its then a good 30 minutes to the top or to PARADISE and I like to get up early around 5 or so and grab a cup of Java and go out side and sit on one of the benches near the visitor center and watch the sun come up over the top of the mt.  It doesn’t rise there but the sunlight starts lighting up the snowfields and it just soothes my soul… and puts me at peace with the world..but If I have to drive for 30 or so minutes while its a pleasant drive but curvy so you can’t go too fast… it means getting up even earlier and then my hubby will wake and think he should go with me… as long as I am just walking across the parking lot he is fine with me going alone and I like to be alone… usually no one else up then and I have often seen deer grazing in the meadow while its still a little dark and no one around… I do love it there.

Mt. Rainier at sunrise.

Ok I promised to try to end this on a happy note so think this photo does that…

STANDING CARDS

GREETINGS ONE AND ALL

I told you about my epistolary ( mostly a writing friend that you don’t see often or have never met) friend Janis and how we after 22 yrs we did get to meet this past winter just before the big shut down…well we are still keeping that epistolary  friendhip going but she is doing much better than I. She recently sent me this really cool card idea that she found on the web…its called several different things but this first link is using an 8 ¼ ( not a typo ) by 11 inch piece of card stock … its then scored at 1 ¼ , 2 ¼ , 6 and 7.  Then turn to the 11 inch side and cut it at 5 ½ and you have two cards ready to fold and decorate.  WE liked this one cause it allowed us to use the BALLOON die from Stamping Up ..it is however discontinued now but you might be able to find it on eBay.  in any case this it JEANNIE STARKS link to her pattern

BUT WAIT…just like ads on TV there is more to this card idea…some of the ideas actually make that center panel smaller and then the card is more like a triple gate fold..and this link shows lots of ideas plus some that have nothing to do at all with TRIPLE STANDING CARD… and of course bests of all is that it folds flat for mailing …little bulky and if you make things that are bumps then you will need extra postage…but hey aren’t your friends worth it.. here is link to lots of cards like this

standing triple panel card

So just pick the ones you like from the images and then click on them and they will take you to that link and you can find out what the cutting and scoring ideas are….

Here are some images of both Janis’s cards and mine… I can’t remember what they call that triangle card… maybe its triangle explosion it is difficult well maybe not but time consuming and Janis knows that I am not a patient person so this Triple fold standing card was much more my style.

Here is link to AMANDA MERTZ ’S  version which is more the gate fold version and she gives you all the measurements etc.( she is also an independent SU person) and this is link to her website.

http://didyoustamptoday.blogspot.com/2017/05/cool-popsicles-fancy-fold-stampin-up.html

Janis’s balloon die card like
Amanda’s

my version with balloon dies popped out

my balloon die version with it popped in not out…

my version of Amanda’s card more like a reverse gate fold that stands

Janis’s version of Reverse Gate fold or Trifold pop up card

Janis’s sliding barn door card so amazing

Janis’s triangle corner pop up card again very unique

If you want to see how to make this card you need to go to YouTube and just type in TRIANGLE CORNER POP UP CARD.  There are several video’s of how to make it.

MAGIC AND DEJA VU

HELLO AGAIN fellow Detainee’s

THE Magic here is the launch of the SPACEX  DRAGON space craft which was built and launched from the US.. First time since the last launch of SPACE SHUTTLE ATLANTIS. BOB said it was definately a Dragon ride up to orbit… huffing and puffin little more bumpy than the space shuttle had been.  They made the trip in 19 hrs and connected to the INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION for the first time in 9 yrs.  Really exciting and I had hopped that I would see the launch from my lanai across the state ( but it is a very flat state) however the weather did not cooperate and while 9 yrs ago I was able to see the launch of Atlantis once it was air born and then see the contrail but not yesterday. Below are the photos that I took and the color is a little off due to fact that I am using my i phone 11 pro to take photos off the TV… which makes the color a bit wonky.  If you go to your TV and type or say NASA you will see a complete set of photos and videos of the launch and the entering of the ISS…

this is the launch

the crew from left to right are BOB AND DOUG ….

this is the dragon that was on board the SPACE X DRAGON note the logo in the previous photo

Bob coming aboard the ISS

Bob and Doug and  Doug is whipping at his head as he hit something coming aboard and apparently was bleeding a little.

the complete crew two Russians and 3 Americans now on board the ISS.

Incase you can’t tell space is another of my passions and I am trying to figure out how I can send them a weathergram or several WEATHERGRAMS to hang in the ISS…can’t hang them out side but maybe they could just let them go outside… and float around in space…till they dissolve… bet Lloyd would love that..ok moving on.

NOW FOR THE DEJA VU

The following photos are of cards I made this past week using the same format that Janie the Card Princess used to in my previous post of One SIMPLE FOLD.

FOR some reason I am into making small cards and I stumbled on some tiny pieces of stamp art and watercolor that I had done and they worked with this smaller size which is the size that DAWN uses for her thank you etc.  It is basically ½ of standard size card which is normally  8 ½ x  5 ½ folded at 4 ¼  and then it can be either vertical or horizontal.

But the ½ size is 2 3/8 x 4 ¼… I have lots of cards that I have purchased in various colors so I just cut them in half and the proceeded with the double fold on one half of the card ie just like Janie showed with the standard size then a couple of them were actually the standard size…so here they are and have fun with any size you want to use..good way to use up scraps and you saw at the end of her video how tiny you can go…. so just get in there and PLAY…

this is one of the easel type cards with the center being taller than the folded section and it is the 2 3/8 x 4 ¼

again same easel and same size but this time the easel part is a full 4 ¼ tall and only adhered to the bottom of the fold… so it will lie flat to mail and stand up as an easel .I was motivated for this own by friends in WA telling me how lovely the weather was….

Ok this is Based on DAWN’s SIMPLY SWEET  Z or what I call the double easel card and it was also smaller being only 3 x 4 ¼ ...

these last two are both standard size 5 ½ x 8 ½ folded at 4 ¼ then they are done in again what I am calling Double easel and DAWN calls her SIMPLY SWEET Z fold….ok now I have given you  so ideas for making the cards a different size now it your turn to go and play…

AS ALWAYS THANKS FOR STOPPIN BY  .…wire headed cyber toad ..aka kath

EPISTOLARY FRIENDSHIPS

YES, many of you are EPISTOLARY friends,

Yes that is a word… and it means that you are in a friendship that is basically just writing.. ie you haven’t met the other person so it sounds so much more grown up than pen pal…I have had an epistolary friendship with Janis Blevins for 22 years… actually it might be approaching 23 yrs but this past February she and her hubby came to Florida sightseeing just before everything went haywire but still it was in the middle of the height of tourist season and they were in there RV and looking for a place to stay that was close to where we were so  we could finally meet…. and amazingly they found one just north of us and so we drove up to spend a delightful afternoon with them and eat an early dinner… it was hot but we had nice shade and breeze and while you might think that since we had never met it might be a bit awkward but after 22 yrs we picked up right where we left off in letters, emails and exchanges… Our husbands found something to talk about also and it was great finally meeting her but it was like I always knew her.

Now lots of our e mails /exchanges are about card making and stamping so I recently got a link from her regarding this web site about 5 CARDS you can make from one fold… well you probably know from my older posts that I hate to just fold a card in half and decorate, I like to make it interesting and this YouTube video did just that … so a huge shoot out to Janis for share ONE EASY FOLD by Janie the Card Princess.  You may find that you are familiar with the fold but she makes it a lot easier then some of the other times I have had to look up measurements and scoring lines etc… in any case check it out if you are interested..

As I said you may recognize this fold as an EASEL , OR A Z FOLD ETC…but she has some interesting ideas and the best one is that you can make them any size at the end of video she even fold up a sample that is only about 1 ½ inches and suggest you use it for a place card …. so its worth a look and like most of YouTube you can subscribe to her site and see lots of other ideas…

I haven’t given up on DAWN..and her video that I just watched could have been part of this one as I would call it a double EASEL.. but she calls it SWEET EASEL Z FOLD.  IT is similar to one of Janie’s but I like it a little better as a way to make it stand up it needs that extra support and Dawn’s is little more refined.

Told you these posts would not be all about cards so I want add some more photos of a very lovely plant that my brother in law has that has TRUMPET shaped flowers and I have also seen these in Victoria as unfortunately by the time I got to visit him they were pretty far gone due to the HEAT…but I am not complaining…LOL opps forgot photo … f

OK well that’s all for this post.  I know i use to sign off with THANKS FOR STOPPIN BY but times change and for now I’ll just STAY SAFE AND WASH YOUR HANDS…

SCS BLACK ICE TECHNIQUE

Hi all…I watched the video of this technique and thought it SOUNDED LIKE A FUN EFFECT..BLACK ICE TECHNIQUE

black ice technique

however, it is very hard to see the effect in the video so go all the way to the end and look at the last few images she shares of previous cards and if you zoom in you should be able to see the droplets effect…. as she points out no two will be exactly the same even if you use the stamp inks and stamps… but it is interesting…

love the idea of the moon just doesn’t photograph well

For me it would be one of those things that I would prepare quite a few of them at one time so just do the covers and then worry about making the cards…IN addition I really like the triplicate effect on the front of black cards… I think black is going to show up better than anything else.. I am now going on the prowl for copper and silver foil card stock .. I am not sure this would work on actual copper or on silver as I don’t think it would stick with the embossing and I know that embossing heat on copper changes the color so you want this to be card stock…

this may the best image of the little beads of clear embossing but still hard to see

loved the color with this one

I am pretty sure the Michael’s has had some gold cards in box for sale as well as some that are silver… but I will check for the sheets of card stock as well..

I did find sheets of silver and of copper at AMAZON they are the star dream brand and its pretty smooth as you don’t want paper with a textured surface or this technique would not show up well at all..

Again while the photos don’t show up well I am certain that if you had the card in your hand it would show up very well… and I love the idea of it… so who knows when but I do plan to give this a try..

AS ALWAYS THANKS FOR STOPPIN BY….snail headed cyber toad..aka kath

GATE FOLD EXPLOSION CARDS

GREETINGS FROM THE GREAT PACIFIC NORTH WEST...yep I am back home and I almost know where things are….lol  My yard is beautiful and while my wisteria has already bloomed and now hangs in dead strings my peonies have just budded and then opened… and they are lovely…

first peony bud..

now we have two open

close up of the flower

also dog wood is blooming everywhere I’ll get some photos for later… and a friend took a trip down to Oregon and Cannon Beach and took this great photo of the sunset .

That’s HAYSTACK rock in the fore ground… just beautiful isn’t it… so on to card making..

EXPLOSION CARDS VIDEO..these are so cute and very simple and easy to make and bonus is that you actually get two ..yes two cards for the price of one…lol… I do like the there are two sizes of these and they are pretty easy …I will tell you and she mentions it that its best to use text weight or the designer paper for the explosion part because it gets harder to fold it with card stock also thicker to mail. Dawn will also show you using solid paper and then gluing triangles on the inside and she does tell you the this makes the card much thicker and little harder to fold… but she gives you these options…

large and small explosion cards.

Now this one was very impressive BUT…as I have said in the past I am not a fan of coloring and this had way toooooo much coloring for my taste it is impressive…my only suggestion is that I would have either left the belly band un colored or I would have used a solid piece of carsick that was the same color as one of the flowers…

my explosion with bees and inside wishing you a honey of a day…

EYE CANDY….string art…at least that is what I am calling it..  Ok Know its been a while and have more to share but I am just going to switch it up a little and start sharing whenever I get a blog finished sometimes I hold them til friday but friday is not going to be a magic day any longer if you are signed up you will get e mail when I post if not then it will be up to you to check to see if I have posted recently or not… so hope you enjoy all of this and more of the northwest soon…
