MT RAINIER TRAVEL

GREETINGS…

I assume that you are aware that we for the past several years have spent our winters in Florida and our summers in Washington.  Well since I consider WA my home I am also sure I have perhaps more than I should have , suggested that I’d prefer to spend my time in WA and that I really do miss spending my winters in an area of mostly rain but also within just a few hours of fabulous SNOW…. I know if you have to work in it and drive in it and live with it day in and day out spring is a delight …but i miss playing in the snow …. and though my husband does in fact enjoy the heat he also misses the SNOW…so that when we returned to WA this late spring to find that there MT RAINIER was still packed in snow at the upper elevation namely PARADISE INN we were elated.  In addition I had previously ( in February) booked us our favorite room at the Inn for the 12th and 13th of June well the was just priceless…I don’t usually book this early because we are not usually having good weather namely its raining and cloudy WITTHOUT the benefit of SNOW and usually no chance to see the mountain.  But I had found out ahead of time that the ANNEX at the INN would be closed for renovation beginning in late AUGUST and that it would stay closed for a year or longer… The Inn at Paradise is 100 years old and I am not sure what they are doing but its more than just cosmetic that had been done several times over the years. So I booked the rooms and lucked out… there was at least 10 feet of snow around the INN.

Because the Inn will be closed for so long …one will have to stay down at at the Inn at Longmire or one of the facilities outside the park.

This was the view out of our window looking over at the front end of the INN as you can see there was a lot of snow and I was loving every minute..

my penguin…

out my other window there was this small tree that had been broken down by the incredible amount of snow this year at the mountain but looking at it I thought it looked like a penguin.

An Old Photo of the what the lobby of the Inn looked liked years ago..

Paradise river just before it goes over Narada Falls.

Down at the lower elevation the WILD VANILLA is blooming  I love those leaves

one of my favorite flowers the Orange ones are Indian Paintbrush..

another of my favorites BEAR GRASS also called SQUAW grass….

Mt. Rainier at sunrise.

While I didn’t get to see it at sunrise this time I did get to enjoy all the snow and how quiet  it was because the snow absorbs the sound.

DAWN’S MULTI PANEL CARD

GREETINGS…

I posted a blog back in 2016 that was about my friend JANIS BLEVINS version of a center step card… and also version of center step card by SCS…I didn’t care for it too much because it was almost square when completed and it didn’t fit easily into an envelope.  But  this MULTI PANEL CARD by Dawnis the same thing as a center step format but the part I like about DAWN’s is that is fits in a standard envelope and its easier to make .

She did a live video on FB of it with the HIGHTIDE SET of stamps but it was an hour long video and hard to watch with people talking and not as concise as this one. i asked to repost a video for this card and she did….just love her videos…so the link above is much easier to watch and I do like the card format..

I especially like this card because can stand on it own…as long as you use card stock for the base…..its really fairly simple just takes a bit of extra scoring. And cutting…then that center panel can work with almost any image you want to cut and add,…it doesn’t have to fit only in the center it can overlap onto the panels since it doesn’t open….it can be an oval or a circle and using a piece from last weeks post on dry embossing would Work well in the center….in fact the card I made using the frog in the center works well… I used it as a get well card and on the back it said wishing you a RIBBIT recovery,…

GET WELL card with frog

Going back in time…

Posted: 05 Jun 2017 11:32 PM PDT

We are away at the moment, so I have gone back in time to another trip earlier in the year.

We visited the National Arboretum in Canberra for the first time in April and it was stunning.

Not only are the mass plantings inspired; but the discovery of art and sculpture in between and around the corner and on top of hills was a real delight.

As you enter the building, these great walls of rock are interrupted with lovey etched corten steel panels.

THE GRACEFUL ENVELOPE CONTEST 2017

YES, its that time again … they have posted the winners of the GRACEFUL ENVELOPE CONTEST for 2017This link will actually take you to the WASHINGTON DC CALLIGRAPHER’S HOME PAGE…but if you scroll down you will be able to click on and view each category.  AND NO …. I didn’t win nor get honorable mention, I have told you before that I actually just do it be involved and push myself to come up with an idea that and postage that matches their format…. I also think I told you but for the sake of not making you look for it that I thought SEWING an envelope was pushing it…. in fact because I quilted fabric onto an envelope I also had to sew the stamps onto it as they would not stick to fabric even using glue…. I also enjoy looking at all the categories as the children can come up with some really wonderful ideas as well….so check out the link and see who and what was chosen… and then because I did it for myself … I have the tumbnails on a few pages here below…you can print them out if you wish..

This is thumbnail of winners and a very good friend of mine MARGI LONG WON with her CANCER ENVELOPE AND STAMP. MY OTHER FAVORITES ARE THE LAST TWO WITH ALL THE POSTAGE STAMPS….

HONORABLE MENTIONS… MY FAVS are the first one with all the different angles and i loved the brown package looking one and then the Pelicans…with the fish ….PRICELESS

HONORABLE MENTIONS 2 … all of these are cute the goat pushing the envelope but again the carrier pigeon ….PRICELESS..

LASTLY AGAIN… MY entry… a quilted envelope and quilted stamps…in looking at my photos I can’t find that I did post it…so here it is in all its glory…

kh envelope for GRACEFUL ENVELOPE CONTEST 2017

this is what the back looked like after the sewing and kinda why I was worried it would not make it contest but it did…just didn’t win…but my mom would have been thrilled that I SEWED..

PS.. I SHOULD MENTION THAT GOING TO THIS LINK YOU CAN ACTUALLY GO BACK quite a few years and see many of the envelopes that were chosen for each of those years in each of the categories….so MAJOR EYE CANDY..

UPDATED RE POST OF DAWN’S PEEK A BOO SLIDER

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE...ok back in march I made several of these and thought they were not that difficult well here it is JUNE and it took me 20 minutes , watching the video twice , making screen shots before I could put one together again…sooo I thought that posting it again with the updated screen shots might help others who in frustration tore up the one they tried and got up and took a break…come on admit it… anyway ..hope this extra photo’s help….

GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS…

I saw this card and of course ai had to go figure out how it worked….I think because it was   similar to the double peek a boo she didn’t give any of the measurements EXCEPT IN THE VIDEO….so I will list them below because while this looks a little complicated its not that difficult.  DAWN’S PEEK A BOO SLIDER

Dawn’s Peek a boo one opening SLIDER

SO the way this works is that when its closed you see one message and when you open it you will see a second message slide into the Opening…Her opening is made using a 2″  circle punch….the rest of the measurement are as follows…

BASE CARD …..4 ¼ x 8 ½  SCORED @ 4 ¼

FRONT OF CARD….4 ¼ X 5 ½ SAME COLOR AS THE BASE CARD

BACK OF CARD (WHITE) 4 ¼ 5 ¾ …SCORED along 5 ¾ inch at 5 ½

WHITE SLIDER PIECE CUT @ 3 x 4 ¼….SCORED ALONG 3 inch at 2 3/4

2 INCH CIRCLE PUNCH…you could use some other shape but it needs to be no bigger than the 2′ size or it won’t fit  the card…ie unless you are an engineer don’t re invent the wheel… lol

This is what the two pieces should look like after you adhere the white to your color card stock

so this is how you stick them together BUT  they get assembled with top one reversed ..

a picture of how and where you punch the 2″ max hole in the card…

This is the piece that goes on the top but she is punching it upside down from the back side….so turn it toward you and it becomes the pink front of the card with a hole in it and you use that hole layers on top of the folded base to see where you will punch the next two holes… yep there are 3 punched holes…

how the card should look just before final assembly..

ok looking down on the card she has the piece for the front adhered to inside top fold of the base card…you can see the small slider on the end of it…the her hand is almost touching the large white piece that becomes the back of the card…..sorry its blurry but I was having to stop it to take screen shot each time…

I hope that this helps ya’ll assemble them.. and this time I made several up but not stamped and and not completely assembled… and then paper clipped them together and put then in with my print out of these images…. I still love this card I must or I wouldn’t have worked so hard to make it easier for all of us…. hope you don’t feel cheated and if you threw up your hands and didn’t make this one…give it try now…

here are ll the photos on a shingle sheet if you want to print it.

None of the above is going to make any sense until you watch the video but I figured you could copy and past these measurements on a page and print them out so that you have them rather than having to watch the video each time you want to make this card.  HUGE HINT:   I would strongly suggest that you make up a dummy of this card so and put it in a sheet protector with the measurements so that you can refer to it make  more… don’t put it completely together but do adhere the white SLIDER  and the white BACK so that you can see how it does go together. Yeah I did that but I left it in FLORIDA….LMAO

As I said this looks harder than it really is … I made both of these in less than an hour..

kh how old peekaboo

You can’t tell form this photo but the dinosaur circle is on a wobble spring… LOVE IT..and nt washi tape is newsprint image… my how old stamp is on a block of wood so it is really hard to get it aligned….but I love that stamp…so I used it anyway…. I may end up removing it from the block of wood and using it on the clear blocks so that I can see it better…HOW DOES SHE DO THAT YOU ASK…I will post that info at the bottom of this blog. I HAVE NOW nuked the block stamp HOW OLD and removed the image so I put it on a clear block and put where I want it… see note below on how to remove stamp.

bird how old peekaboo kh

For this card…..I had this long stamp of the chick with the cake with all the candles and when I punched it out and I just kinda chopped off his legs but  He is ok…. then the cover was pice of card stock that was preprinted and left over from some valentine stuff.  I was able to center the HOW OLD a little better but still not perfect…however, I am not a perfectionist and it is legible and most people will get what it says right away..

You will notice that I did not put borders around my circle cuts…..ie the LAZY STAMPER HERE…I didn’t have the next size punch so I would have had to go and die cut them and I was just too lazy to do that…

Both of the my cards has the same message stamped inside on the slider part so it looks like this….

kh peek boo inside

You will also note that I didn’t use balloons to decorate the outside… I have the balloon punch which punches out two different size balloons but again I just liked using my how old stamp and the dinosaur…..I also have a cute big ugly looking bird that I plan to use with the message stamp saying DO I SMELL CAKE…that would go on the slider part.

So ALWAYS WATCH THE VIDEO…then I recommend you cut the pieces I noted above or even cut them first and then watch the video then assemble your dummy using paper /cardtock that you don’t really like so that you have it to refer to without going back to the video each time. My computer is on the other side of the room from my desk so its not convenient to go back and forth …..in fact i am not sure they make a des big enough for me to work with all the stuff I want at my finger tips…lol….I end up working about 10 sq inches ……I don’t recommend that as it is often how ink etc gets where it doesn’t belong or smeared… but it always seems to be what happens …. the muse is running I try to go with the flow….

REMOVING A STAMP FROM A WOOD BLOCK…..basically put your wood block in the microwave with the rubber facing up and nuke it for about 5-10 seconds… then it should just peal right off the wood block…it doesn’t seem to harm the rubber although over time it may dry it out more.  I would start with 5 seconds first as you are just loosening the glue …but if its a really large image you may want to do 10 seconds… you can always go back and do a few more seconds if necessary…. REMEMBER ITS SECONDS ….not minutes….so figure out your microwave first…with water or something so you know how to set it….I have a built in micro so its about 1100 watts…if you have a small one it may take a few more seconds due to your power being lower…

ADHERING THE REMOVED STAMP ….I use the zig two way glue pen applied to the back of the rubber/cushion THIS usually allows it to stick to the block.. however you can always put some double stick tape on the back of stamp and stick it to the clear block that way…

STORAGE…you can purchase the stamp cases empty from DAWN or any stamping up dealer ..I just stamp the image on a sheet of paper that will slip inside the front cover the plastic box and put them in there… I try to keep them in like kind of boxes… birthday together etc…

My friend JANIS…came across a garage sale, I think of a whole bunch of clear mount STAMPING UP stuff being sold and she bought it all… lol…. She is my number one BLOG FAN as she frequently makes up the card as soon as I post it and then tweeks it a little and sends me images of her take on the card…. FOR THAT I AM TRULY GRATEFUL…

I am also grateful for my wonderful HUSBAND OF 46 YEARS who makes all of this possible. He is very supportive and always reads my blog…Love him bunches.

Well that’s about all from here and as TOM BODETT would say AS ALWAYS tTHANKS FOR STOPPIN BY and “we’ll leave the LIGHT ON FOR YA”…wire headed cyber toad aka kath HOPIN THIS SHINED A LITTLE MORE LIGHT ON THE HOW TO…hugs kath

DRY EMBOSSING ON VELLUM

GREETINGS…

I learned to do this technique several years ago but I had forgotten about it till I was browsing thru thru my  STAMPING SCHOOL  subscription…..she had posted a card using the fat chicken….

Stamping School card

.and I had gotten that stamp set cause I just loved those chickens and so I had to give it a try ….you do need to press very gently or you will tear the vellum…but I love the effect….of DRY EMBOSSING ON VELLUM….i can’t link you to STAMPING SCHOOLsite but I found this video on you tube…the STAMPING SCHOOL SITE is a pay site…. its 35$ a year but I do like the way she lays out her cards…and you can save favorites for yourself on the site and she gives what she calls the recipe which gives you the sizes of card…score lines etc and a picture all on a single sheet of paper…. I like all of that so much that I said ok I am going to pay for it… this is my 3rd year and I do feel I get my money’s worth .  So while there is the link up there …you won’t be able to see all of the cards etc/videos unless you pay for a subscription.  This is also why I can’t link you to the sight

I also discovered that its hard to do a large open area….and while balloons would look good afraid it will be harder to do that larger area….unless you have the denser piece of foam to rub on… I tired to use my mouse pad and it tore, I found a small piece of dense foam that I had for something else and it worked better so I went to Michaels and looked for dense /thicker foam wirere they had the light foam that you can use to die cut images… the dense foam is little more than ¼ inch thick and it only comes in two colors grey and white… I think the grey will be easier to see where you have been and what still needs to embossed…. it was a very cheap purchase think it was only 99 cents… It can be very impressive .

Here are some of the images that I did ….

mouse embossing

chicken dry emboss

my frog above is mounted on the multi panel card or center step….and I did use watercolors on the back side of the vellum.

dry embossed flowers of vellum

Because I scanned these images none of them are showing up as well as they do when you see them in person…

also I would tell you that you can also use tracing paper its slightly thicker and not a transparent as vellum but it will work..also colored vellum will work it won’t show up white but it will show up a lighter shade of whatever color you might be using..

EYE CANDY…..SEAL AND GIRL ON DOCK..this is maybe not eye candy… and as you can see it made the NEWS as well as FACEBOOK and it made me laugh…only because I know she is ok…I am sure she was scared but this is the best reason why t you don’t feed wild animals…I know I have a black sense of humor but as I said she is fine. just a little wet and shook up…

well guess that’s it for this post…. AS ALWAYS THANKS FOR STOPPIN BY…wire headed cyber toad aka kath harney

SCS CARD CLUTCH

I know its been a while…but between Jet lag and 3 hour time zone change plus trying to get all my STUFF back where it belongs and off the floor , off the desk…out of the box…lol I am to say the least behind…. but I just watched this video and thought this was just too cute…

I don’t think I have ever given a friend and of my hand made cards because most of my friends don’t send SNAIL MAIL… I send but they don’t however , I did think that maybe they might send to others but not to me… My BFF this year told me as she was taking me to lunch and for a 1hr FOOT MASSAGE (HEAVEN) that she got me cards and that she never gives cards…lol but i got to thinking she might if I made her some and gave them to her..Plus this was a fast and simple fold AND. You may remember that I recently found and purchased some magnets…and I CAN STILL FIND THEM…lol. In any case I also thought that this would work well for a gift card hold also.  You know sometimes you purchase several gift cards like several in and APPLE package or some of the movie cards come in more than one in a package but even if you only gave one gift card and 3 handmade cards it would be a nice treat….YOU. Know your actually not supposed to know or care what the receipent does with what you give them… I have. Friend who I have been told has a draw full of gift cards that he has never used…I haven’t seen it myself but that’s the rumor …remember its the thought that counts….

So here is the image.. and the link..,,,SCS CARD CLUTCH

OPEN AND CLOSED CLUTCH

Now I have a couple of HINT…first I would take the ½ inch fold at the bottom of the triangle and after I have the clutch folded complete I’d go back and add some tear and tape to that crease to hold it together better..make it a little more rigid.. next whe doesn’t say it but her cards are small 3 ½ x 5 but they still will need to over lap when you insert them into the pockets…

NEXT HINT…..when I am folding the points up to the center crease I would had a VERY SMALL dab of glue to hold it down…again not much as you want it to dry so the cards don’t get stuck to it..so don’t use glue dots..I used glue…to hold those pockets then flip it over and put some tear and tape in that ½ inch fold on the bottom… I would also add dab of glue or glue dot to the tip of the triangle on the front of each side …

Lastly I haven’t measured this yet but I believe it is mailable in like a 6x 9 envelope or in a larger Manila envelope…. and if you have cards in it then it will need some extra postage…but hey its a gift right so little extra postage is not a big deal…

MAZE FOLD CARD from YouTube

OK GET IN , SIT DOWN AND HANG ON....This going to be like MR TOAD’S WILD RIDE... lol… first I stumbled onto this card via youtube and then I drove myself crazy finding a paper trimmer that had centimeters on it so that I could easily cut this… well that was really difficult as most of our paper trimmers don’t come with centimeters cause we don’t use them over here…and dashing over to UK while it might have been great fun was not something I could pull off at the moment…so I found ruler with centimeters and tried to figure out the measurements from that… but MATH GENIUS I am not…and even my husband wondered at all the paper scraps in the recycle bin that week…so now a week has gone by and I am think the hell with it I just won’t even try it…but you see I have all these birthday stamps /sayings and I kept thinking how much fun a Bday card with all of them included on it would be so… somehow here it is Easter morning and the light blub went off…maybe because I changed my FB profile photo to minion with Bunny ears I suddenly got minion voices yelling be do be do… and I thought how would APPLE DO THIS…as any of my friends  would tell you that if it seems hard on your apple you doing it wrong …apple makes it easy….don’t over think…so why not use my standard paper and cut the first one 4 ¼ x 8 ½ … cause this has to be a square or it won’t work. HERE IS THE VIDEO MAZE FOLD CARD..WATCH IT FIRST BUT FORGET THE MEASUREMENTS…JUST WATCH FOR FOLDING AND PLACEMENT…well folding is easy every piece is folded in half and you don’t have to use two colors but believe me its easier… lol…

Srushti’s maze fold card

Ok so now you see how its done and you can do as many or a few of the pieces as you like but I did the full 8… so here are my measurements…

BASE…4 ¼ X 8 ½ YELLOW

4 bX 8 ORANGE

3 ½ X 7 YELLOW

3 X 6 ORANGE

2 ½ X 5 ½ YELLOW

2 ¼ X 4 ½  ORANGE

1 ¾ X 4 YELLOW

1 ½ X 3  ORANGE

ok now my measurements are not perfect but it folds correctly  just so you know here are the photos I took so that I could show you step by step…

base

NOTE; I did change the second cut to 4 x 8 but I didn’t want to take all the photos over again as its shows in each one…so ignore the numbers on the picture and use the one’s listed above the photos..

ok see it does work… and then fold it all closed and yep it still works… and makes a square… now as I said I am not MATH GENIUS but I am pretty impressed with myself over this… and thanks be to minons that helped me see the light and Apple too…

Now my big HINT: for this one is do make a dummy … use two colors and it only uses about two sheets of each other so not too bad… but once you have the dummy don’t glue it together use removable tape so if you need to remeasure ( and some of my type A people are going to say hey… that won’t fold to a square ) fine you fix it and send me the new measurements and I will post it as a update… but for me I am satisfied with it the way it is…aka the lazy stamper… hey that might be my new signature…lol

ok hope you give this a try and that you like it as much as I did bet you all have lots of different birthday stamps…

AS ALWAYS THANKS FOR STOPPIN BY.…the LAZY STAMPER aka kath

3 D FLOWER POP UP ..via :YouTube

Greetings…and HAPPY EASTER…

I want to share this card with you because a friend Janis Blevins sent me one last year…or maybe the year before ( going back and forth cause one to get lost in the years) and it was just lovely… and not sure if all Michael’s have them on sale right now but ours had 3 inch square origami papers on sale …and they work really well with this card…You can’t use card stock for the flowers as it is too stiff and won’t fold and open well.  You would have to and cut yourself some text paper but origami is really great… the solid colors will let you color in the flowers as seen in these photos…

DIY flower pop up/out

this one above cut the ends into points rather than rounded …

3d flower each is so different depending on what you do to decorate the flower itself…

then there is mine…the lazy version.

my multi colored flowers but I needed to decorate the inside…lazy stamper..

Ok one more cause you might not think white paper is very impressive.

SO THERE ARE SEVERAL versions of this card on YouTube and I am only giving you the first one… DIY 3D FLOWER CARDSo feel free to check out the others and be sure to watch the videos so that you get that folding correct… and you need to have 7 OF THEM make the flower pop out correctly …

The folding and the cutting are the easy part…lol  the tough part is gluing them together correctly ..so my HINT …. have them all folded and ready to go then watch and stop the video as needed so you can see how to glue them together and if you create a dummy version and make the dots as they did in the video you will be able to make more of them much easier and not have to rewatch the video each time you make the card…then save it in the sheet protector…blah blah blah….cause trust me the hardest part is getting them together correctly or the card won’t open out into the bouquet which is most impressive… I think my friend sent a video that was done by Martha Stewarts people… and its fine too if you go to my blog and type in SEARCH …MARTHA STEWART 3D FLOWER… I think that old post will come up and you can then go look at Martha’s video if you want…or try typing it in on YouTube I am sure its there as well…

This makes a fabulous Mother’s day card and that holiday is racing right towards us a break neck speed…. so I am trying my best to stay at least a wee bit ahead… so hope you will give this a try and that you will enjoy it as much as I did… and just check to see if you can find origami paper in 3 in squares for sale at Michaels… or try the office supply people for a pad of multicolored paper that size ..that is what I used for mine the first time…but I am going to color inside this time… to make it more flower like… You will probably need sharpie’s on the origami paper as its kinda coated but my pack came with multi colored as well.. so just a black sharpie for the flower part inside will work for me… but sharpies are in all colors not but think you will want the permanent ones not the watercolor version …

Ok that’s all for this week as I am already late…missed friday big time so enjoy and go make one…

MINI EASTER BASKETS

DAWN’S EASTER/PICNIC BASKET This basket is very cute but also VERY LABOR INTENSIVE..lol … so you might guess that just maybe I had one that was WAY easier and also if you include the brads and pre/punch you could in fact mail it or leave it together and use one of prepaid mini flat rate boxes …it might be a wee big squished but still lots of fun for who ever you send it to…

Dawn’s easter/picnic basket.

Now here is the pattern for mine with the measurements… its slightly larger then hers but you could adjust the size easily.  I made a smaller one using the following sizes…

kath’s mini basket

cut 1….6×5

score on the 6″ size at 2 ” and 4″

then rotate and score on the 5″ side at 1 ½ ” and at 4 ½ “.. then fold and attach with brads on each side and don’t forget your handle which works best at ¾ ” x  7 ½ …use the brad to also hold the handle…

Ok that’s not much but its getting awful close to easter so wanted to get this out there..

HINT: if you use duplex paper both sides of the basket will be attractive…Or you could use white and stamp on it before you put it together….If you are sending/giving more than one to a household then you can reverse the basket so that you have two different ones…

HINT:2 If you need to mail this you can make a copy of this pattern and include it with the mailing so that the parent ( if you are sending to children ) or the adult can see how to put it together .. then you can use the cushion envelope to mail and put hand cancel on it and maybe add baggie of jelly beans or some other no melting type of candy depending on where you are mailing it…

You can also use stamps and die cuts to embellish it or bunny brads etc…

EYE CANDY….3D FLOWER POP OUT… I think might have posted this some time ago as My friend JANIS BLEVINS sent me the directions and I had to try it.. this one is a bit updated as they are drawing more on the papers so that they look even more like flowers…It doesn’t tell you a size , though it might if you went to her web site..but I used 3×3 squares and it worked just fine….somewhere …I found a stack of multi colored squares that I used for the flowers so they were all solid colors but multi colors.  You CAN NOT use post it notes the sticky is not in the right places….you will end up with a mess YOU DO NEED 7 pieces for 7 flowers and I am going to post a second link the makes the same flower but this one cut to a point rather than rounded…. so different looking flower.

DIY flower pop up/out

I would suggest you cut lots of 3 inch squares and then you can sit and fold them in front of the tv at night store them with the image in a sheet protector and you can when you get tired of folding start cutting and decorating…. watch video carefully so you can see where to cut or you will have just loose petals….how does she know this you ask…well guess I cut off the wrong end…lol…..in any case it makes a really spectacular card that will impress the hardest to impress… this is a bit time consuming but as I said I just made a stack of papers and folded and cut them and then began decorating all in front of tv…then tucked them away for future use….

Posted this AS MARTHA’S 3 D FLOWER CARD…in MAY OF 2015..IF you go to the blog and in the search box type in MARTHA’S 3 D FLOWER CARD…it will link you to that site and then you can go see her video… they are all the same…

my multi colored flowers but I needed to decorate the inside…lazy stamper..

Here is the second link…Pointed pop out card this is the same card just with pointed petals rather than rounded….

HINT:3… most import is how you paste them together so watch that part of the video and and then put a sample together and  I would use removable tape or the two way glue so that you can gently put the stack apart to reming your self how to assemble… or bookmark the you tube…ALSO DON’T RECOMMEND ASSEMBLY IN FRONT OF TV…too distracting and suddenly your bouquet looks like its been run over by freight train…lol

great card for mother’s day also…

OK THAT’S ALL FOR THIS WEEK...AS ALWAYS THANKS FOR STOPPIN BY…wire headed cyber toad…aka KATH

SCS WATERCOLOR AND COLORED PENCIL

WOW…SCS ..outdid theirselves this past couple of weeks…this weeks post is all about techniques  and since i am behind …it seems like they are perfect to share…. the first one MONOCHROME PENCIL this is a very concise and simple lesson on how to use your colored pencils to create depth and dimension with your stamps or even with your drawn letters…

SCS MONOCHROME PENCILs

This is such a great technique and they made it very quick and simple…so if it was me ( and I did) I would bookmark it so you can go back to the video and look at it again…then try the technique while you are sitting in front of the tv…..One of the best hints I saw was using the technique of holding the pencil up near the top of the pencil to achieve the very light color…. I have been playing with colored pencils for a long time and I can tell you that getting the lightest color , when you know that you have a heavy hand, is quite difficult so this is a technique that I will definitely try.  My HINT: if you try this technique and feel like you have it down , then what usually happens with me is that I use it for a while and then I don’t ….then the next time I decide to try it my results are not so good… like lettering this is  technique that it would be good to review if you haven’t used it in a while…like do a test of shading from light to dark before you tackle the project and end up getting poor results…sometime its not like just riding a bicycle….lol….

cling wrap and watercolor

CLING WRAP TECHNIQUE This is also a great technique and one I have used a lot to create backgrounds…..however this one had a new twist…in the past using watercolor paper I have always wet the paper and then applied the color directly to the W/C paper then gently placed a piece of cling wrap over the paper and pushed it around with my fingers to create the lines and spaces…THEN MOST IMPORTANT IS TO LET IT DRY OR ALMOST DRY before you remove the cling wrap….as you can see from their video it they are suggesting that you put the watercolor on the cling wrap and then place the paper on top of that and flip it over and mush it around a little again letting it mostly dry before you remove the cling…MY HINT: while in most cases stamping over the top of this background would not be a problem ….however if you spray the background lightly with a SPRAY FIXATIVE….(readily available at any craft/art store or on amazon) it will seal the background and it will for sure not bleed when stamping or lettering over it.  If you want to leave white spaces in the background then you can use a masking fluid to achieve it… do let the masking fluid dry completely before using the cling wrap technique…
