HEY ITS FALL YA’LL I made my hubby put his hand in the photo so you can see just how big this leaf really is…. I was amazed and no the tree is not that big…. its big but not that big… this is a definitely a leaf on steriods…lol

SCS INLAID DIE CUTS SCS INLAID CUTS OK we have done something like this but this one is bit more involved… I started with a card front and cut out a circle then went back and layered some bats half in and half out of the circle and die cut once again… then because I think the SCS one is way to busy for me and too many different papers I went ahead and put my circle with the bats cut into it back into the front of the card then and then used a smaller piece of card stock on the inside of the front fold so it would hold it together and I used small glue dots on the bats to be sure they stayed attached. also… I loved it so then I tired to do a similar one with leaves I used the same technique but when I finished I decided to add some embellishments by putting a real dried whirligig from our oak tree on the front.  Now it looks like I outlined the leaves however, that is actually due to the fact that the leaf dies both have this hair line border around them that cuts out also and its too tiny to glue it down and so I just discarded and glued the leaves back into place but now they have a small border around them… If you can find leaves without that border I would buy them instead… but I still like this effect and think you can do it with lots of stuff…. how about a heart with the word love cut out of it… works for me….so you can mix images and words both…. give it a try use what you have and see what you can come up with…

This is very similar, maybe a little more difficult than the 3D word blog that I previously posted.  Then again you don’t have to draw lines on this one…the hardest part is just figuring what is sequence is for cutting so when they tell you to lay it all out first so you know that is really good advice. Then you might want to make a liner for the inside of your card so that you don’t see the cut outs from the inside and also it will make the strength of the card better. I also think a few of the words would work really well with design….using a circle for the base or a square or even a rectangle then adding an overlay… Now for me the one from SCS is just too busy ( gosh have you heard that before, well sorry but I guess in addition to being a lazy stamper I am also into simple design… A) so that you can appreciate the design and B) because using designer paper with a pattern really blurs the impact ..IN MY OPINION… Everyone’s choices will be different and there is nothing wrong with this design but for me I would have done all solid colors so that they showed up better. You can tell that the butterfly is on top and the flower is on top of the leaves so guess it works just hard to notice that at first glance… Here are a  couple of others I tried but since I am leaving soon I ran out of time…

You can see I got the needle a little crooked but I could say we were having a quake..lol also note the city is so full of tiny cut out that I never get a good cut with it… I forgot that’s why I wasn’t using it… oh well at least you got the idea and again I do think it shows up better with solid colors…I could have done the whole town and run it thru the legs of the space needle but when I went to cut it realized that it doesn’t cut easily and so decided to make it smaller by only using half of the cut out… again I am the lazy one so pushing out all those tiny cuts wouldn’t be too bad if in fact they were cut all the way thru but they weren’t so taking way to long and not working well…….     INLAID KH 1This one was more simple just the space needle and a heart… much easier to execute also…I would add some stamps maybe but otherwise think its fine just as it is.

Ok this is short one but I am in transition to the other location…so will write again for warmer climes…but I will miss my Seattle and all the fall and even the Rain… 24/7 sunshine is not all its cracked up to be at least to the rainwriter!
